Our Tools

Our consultancy work is bespoke in nature and often involves the development of very specific tools to meet the needs of each individual client. However, our Knowledge Exchange work programmes have also resulted in the development of tools that are useful and available to all of our clients.

FWD Together – our management support tool for managing stress risks and enhancing workplace wellbeing

Managers have an important impact on their teams and play a key role in facilitating a healthy work environment and managing the work-related stress risks facing their team members. Yet, according to the CIPD (2023) Health and wellbeing at work report, the top reason organisations struggle with tackling this challenge is a lack of managerial skills and confidence to provide adequate support. Managers can feel uncomfortable initiating wellbeing conversations or handling complex wellbeing issues. Our tool Forward Together is designed to equip managers with the knowledge, confidence and resources they need to hold these important discussions and better support their team members.

Home & Hybrid Working Tool – identify the risks to mental health in digital workplaces

While work digitalisation has brought notable benefits for workers, the accompanying shift to flexible work settings (incl. home and hybrid work, remote working) can also introduce risks to mental health if not anticipated and managed effectively. The Home and Hybrid Working tool was designed to capture these emerging challenges, providing employers with an assessment of potential risks within flexible working environments. Available through HSE’s website, the tool can be combined with the Stress Indicator Tool to complement a diagnosis of stress risks. It can be purchased through HSE to benefit from more advanced reporting capabilities.

The tool can also be accessed freely in the document below. Read the guidance document to know how to use it. Developed as part of a wider project funded by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (Local Digital Team), you can learn more about its development below:

Wind technician tool (WTT) – exploring and addressing stress risks in the wind industry

Commissioned by G+ and SafetyOn, a new pilot tool has been developed to assess the unique stress risks faced by wind technicians, in both offshore and onshore working environments. Based on a qualitative exploration of their work experiences (Phase 1), items were designed to capture the specific challenges within the wind industry that can give rise to work-related stress. A survey was conducted (Phase 2) to refine the tool and assess its psychometrics properties.

This pilot tool provides wind companies with a set of items designed to offer insights into some specific challenges workers face in this industry. This includes three new industry-specific domains of: fatigue culture, wellbeing culture and safety culture.

The WTT question set can be accessed freely here. Read the guidance document to know how to use this tool here.

This question set will soon be available to purchase as a digital survey through HSE, as an addition to the Stress Indicator Tool.
